What are the types of lubrication?

There are three different types of lubrication: boundary, mixed and full film. Each type is different, but they all rely on a lubricant and the additives within the oils to protect against wear.

What are lubricants for Class 8?

Lubricant is a substance used to reduce friction between surfaces in contact which reduces heat generated when the surfaces move. The property of reducing friction bisetween two particles is known as lubricity. Example: oil, grease.

What kind of grease is red?

Red Rubber Grease is used to protect & lubricate rubber components. It is manufactured using vegetable oil as the base lubricant. Vegetable oil is used as unlike other oils it does not damage rubber. The red colour is due to the addition of a red dye to make it easily distinguishable from other greases.

What are lubricants give 2 example?

A lubricant is a substance which introduced to reduce friction between surfaces in mutual contact, which ultimately reduces the heat generated when the surfaces move. For example – motor oil, friction modifier, friction additive, gel, silicons, flourocarbons, ect.

What is NGL 1 grease?

A grease with an NLGI grade of 1 has a consistency like tomato paste, where a grease with an NLGI grade of 3 has a consistency more like butter. Grades within this range can operate in a higher temperature range and at higher speeds than NLGI grades 000-0. Greases for bearings are typically NLGI grade 1,2, or 3.

What is AP grease?

Name stands for ALL PURPOSE grease. This grease provides excellent protection against rusting and corrosion. Usually applied to water pumps, wheel bearings, chassis fittings or universal joints.

What are the different grades of Grease?

Greases are classified into nine consistency grades (000, 00, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) established by the National Lubrication and Grease Institute ( NLGI ). NLGI #000 greases are nearly fluid, while NLGI #6 greases are nearly solid. The most commonly used grease is NLGI #2.

What type of grease should I use?

Grease Types. Molybdenum (Moly) Grease. Greases containing molybdenum disulfide as an additive are used in many heavy-duty, load-bearing, demanding situations such as in construction equipment, railways, farm machinery, etc.

What are the different types of molybdenum grease?

M – (MOLY GREASE) Molybdenum disulfide grease; moly content to be at least 3\% MP – (MOLY PASTE) Molybdenum disulfide paste; moly content to be at least 40\% S – Silicone grease

What type of lubricant is grease?

Grease (lubricant) Grease is sometimes used to describe lubricating materials that are simply soft solids or high viscosity liquids, but these materials do not exhibit the shear-thinning properties characteristic of the classical grease. For example, petroleum jellies such as Vaseline are not generally classified as greases.
