What are problem with FASTag?

As per some reports, the annual loss due to such fuel wastage is around Rs 15,000 crore, more than the toll collected every year! Unfortunately, despite FASTag the waiting time has not reduced and traffic is still moving extremely slowly at toll booths, and even the NHAI has admitted this.

Can FASTag account go negative?

If the account balance becomes negative, the bank can recover from the security deposit, which should be replenished at the time of the user’s next recharge. As a result, many FASTag users were not allowed to pass through a toll plaza, despite having sufficient balance in their FASTag account/wallet.

What is the minimum balance of FASTag?

There were reports that vehicles with fast tags of certain banks were not allowed to cross toll booths if they didn’t have a minimum balance of Rs 150-200. National Highway Authority officials have clarified that this condition had been removed.

What happens if FASTag has less balance?

A threshold /minimum amount is maintained for our FASTag wallet and if the balance in your wallet goes below the assigned amount the tag account goes into Low balance. Due to low balance you would be unable to pass through the Toll Plaza using the FASTAG. Hence, you need to recharge your Kotak Fastag Account.

What are the risks of using a FASTag?

FasTag can be wrongly charged – Due to technical flaws, at times, a FasTag user may be wrongly charged. And, the user is only left with the option to report the matter as soon as he/she comes to know about it and asking for reimbursement. FasTag may face malfunction or damage – A user can report about the same and ask for a replacement.

What is FASTag blacklist and how to avoid it?

A FASTag gets blacklisted in the event the user fails to maintain adequate balance in their FASTag wallet. Thus if the user tries to pass through the toll gates with insufficient balance in their FASTag account, they would not be able to avail the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) services, forcing them to pay via cash.

What is the FASTag charge for multi axle vehicles?

FasTag charge is high for multi-axle vehicles – Multi-axle vehicle owners are hesitant to opt for FasTag as the toll charges for such vehicles are quite high. A truck requires more than Rs. 2,000 for 10 trips while a car can make 10 trips at a much lower value. This gives people the ideas for deploying car tags in trucks.

How to claim for double deduction of FASTag toll amount?

By going on your FASTag customer portal, you can register a claim regarding double deduction of toll amount, and can put in a request for a recompensation. It is not uncommon for drivers to wait for their turns longer than expected in FASTag lanes due to vehicles without FASTag falling in the queue.
