Art influences society by changing opinions, instilling values and translating experiences across space and time. Research has shown art affects the fundamental sense of self. Painting, sculpture, music, literature and the other arts are often considered to be the repository of a society’s collective memory.

Art, in its broadest sense, is a form of communication. It means whatever the artist intends it to mean, and this meaning is shaped by the materials, techniques, and forms it makes use of, as well as the ideas and feelings it creates in its viewers .

For some, the glorification or celebration in art form of what I consider bad ideas e.g. Nazism, Extremism, etc. would be considered helpful, useful, good, etc. reflections of certain parts of society. For others it does nothing but fortify and perpetuate bad ideas.
