Should 2.4 GHz and 5GHz have same SSID?

Almost all current wireless devices support both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies. Older 2.4Ghz only devices will just connect to the 2.4Ghz frequency and not even see the 5Ghz frequency, so having the same SSID will work fine for them.

Should I use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi if both are available?

If you want better range, use 2.4 GHz. If you need higher performance or speed, use the 5GHz band. The 5GHz band, which is the newer of the two, has the potential to cut through network clutter and interference to maximize network performance.

Should my 2.4 and 5GHz same password?

It seamlessly changes to the best band based on signal strength and WiFi congestion thresholds. To enable band steering, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands must have the same WiFi name and password.

What is difference between 5GHz and dual band?

A 2.4 GHz network will have a greater range, but slower WiFi speeds. While a 5 GHz network will have faster speeds, but a smaller area of coverage. If you want the best of both worlds, you can get both frequencies with a dual-band router.

Can I use the same SSID on 2 4Ghz and 5GHz?

Some simultaneous dual-band wireless routers and newer 802.11ac devices offer the option to use the same SSID for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Clients that are capable of connecting to either frequency will typically connect to whichever network they see first.
