On what factors does the heating effect of current depends?

The heating effect of an electric current depends on three factors: The resistance, R of the conductor. A higher resistance produces more heat. The time, t for which current flows.

How is it related to the heating effect of electric current?

Heating Effect of Current When an electric current is passed through a conductor, the conductor becomes hot after some time and produces heat. The higher the resistance of a conductor, the more heat will be generated as current passes through it.

How does voltage produce electric current?

Voltage generates the flow of electrons (electric current) through a circuit. The specific name for the source of energy that creates the voltage to make current flow is electromotive force. This relationship between voltage and current is given by Ohm’s law. The voltage exists whether the charge is present or not.

Does voltage increase heat?

Why does voltage increase (for a constant current) if temperature increases? Voltage is directly proportional to resistant (V=IR) and resistance increases with temperature due to increased vibrations of the molecules inside the conductor. Therefore voltage increases as temperature increases.

How the electrical appliances work using the heating effect of electric current Class 7?

When electric current is passed through an electric heating appliance by connecting it to a power socket through insulated copper wires (called cord’ or ‘connecting cable’), then a large amount of heat is produced in the heating element (or coil) due to which the heating element become red-hot.

Does heating effect depend on voltage?

Therefore, the heating effect which is felt through the power consumption is dependent on both voltage as well as the current.

How is voltage produced by heating?

Thermoelectric materials generate power directly from the heat by converting temperature differences into electric voltage. Having low thermal conductivity ensures that when one side is made hot, the other side stays cold, which helps to generate a large voltage while in a temperature gradient.
