Is there such thing as a zero percent chance?

No, 0\% chance does not mean impossible. Indeed, this is the canonical example of a non-trivial event with 0 probability.

What is the chance of you being born?

In a 2011 Tedx Talk, self-help author Mel Robbins announced that the odds of being born are one in 400 trillion.

What is the probability of an arrival at any given instant?

For the Poisson process, arrivals may occur at arbitrary positive times, and the probability of an arrival at any particular instant is 0. This means that there is no very clean way of describing a Poisson process in terms of the probability of an arrival at any given instant.

How do you find the probability that Z falls between 1-1?

To do so, first look up the probability that z is less than negative one [p (z)<-1 = 0.1538]. Because the normal distribution is symmetric, we therefore know that the probability that z is greater than one also equals 0.1587 [p (z)>1 = 0.1587]. To calculate the probability that z falls between 1 and -1, we take 1 – 2 (0.1587) = 0.6826.

What is the probability of a random variable being less than?

The probability of a random variable being less than or equal to a given value is calculated using another probability function called the cumulative distribution function. A cumulative distribution function (CDF), usually denoted F ( x), is a function that gives the probability that the random variable, X, is less than or equal to the value x.

How unique is human civilization to the universe?

By applying the new exoplanet data to the universe’s 2 x 10 to the 22nd power stars, Frank and Sullivan find that human civilization is likely to be unique in the cosmos only if the odds of a civilization developing on a habitable planet are less than about one in 10 billion trillion, or one part in 10 to the 22nd power.
