Is there a malaria risk in Greece?

Risk is absent in most of the country; risk exists only in specified areas: Locally acquired cases of malaria (P. vivax) have been confirmed in the regional units of Evros (municipalities of Alexandroupoli and Soufli) and Tessaloniki (municipality of Delta). Previous cases have also been reported from Achaia and Elis.
