Is Star Trek Picard countdown canon?

Star Trek: Picard isn’t the first chance fans have had to visit the future of beloved captain Jean-Luc Picard — that happened in November when IDW launched the series’ comic book prequel, Star Trek: Picard – Countdown. Co-written by the show’s supervising producer Kristen Beyer, it “counts” in terms of canon.

Which Star Trek series are canon?

As a rule, all Star Trek television series that aired are considered part of the canon. This policy does not make clear which version of the series is the canonical one. For example, the remastered episodes of the original series, released in 2006, present several visual differences from the episodes originally aired.

In 2009, in the 4-part comic book IDW event Star Trek: Countdown, Data was straight-up alive again, reborn in B-4’s body, and now was Captain of the Enterprise. Now, even that last remnant of Data that existed in B-4’s brain is gone, put to peace by Jean-Luc in the Picard finale. Rest in peace, dear Data.

Season two of Star Trek: Picard will arrive on Paramount+ in February 2022. Season three will likely have to wait until 2023.

Why is Data’s uniform yellow?

In TNG and onward your color was sort of your “Branch”. Red was command and control, yellow was operations, engineering, and security, blue was sciences and medical. Data wore yellow because he was the chief operational officer. Just like crusher was the chief medical officer so she wore blue.

What is non canon Star Trek?

There’s a lot of bickering about it among fans, but in its purest sense, it’s really pretty simple: Canon is Star Trek continuity as presented on TV and Movie screens. Licensed products like books and comics aren’t part of that continuity, so they aren’t canon.
