Is Passover the same as Exodus?

Passover commemorates the Biblical story of Exodus — where God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. The celebration of Passover is prescribed in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament (in Judaism, the first five books of Moses are called the Torah).

What is the difference between the Old Testament Passover meal and the Last Supper *?

Passover is an event where Israelites sacrifice the lamb on the 14th day of the month of Nisan and consume it with bread and wine on the 15th. The Last Supper was the last meal Jesus had with his 12 apostles, after sacrificing a lamb in the morning and then consuming it with bread and wine in the evening.

Passover parallels This is due to the fact that the Synoptic Gospels describe it as a Passover Meal. Some evangelical groups borrowed Seder customs, like Haggadahs, and incorporated them in new rituals meant to mimic the Last Supper; likewise, many secularized Jews presume that the event was a Seder.

What night is Passover Seder?

The Seder is usually held in homes on the first and second nights of Passover, the eight-day Jewish holiday.

What was the significance of unleavened bread in Exodus?

Jews consume unleavened breads such as matzo during Passover as commanded in Exodus 12:18. Per the Torah, the newly emancipated Israelites had to leave Egypt in such a hurry that they could not so much as spare time for their breads to rise; as such, bread which cannot rise is eaten as a reminder.

What is the difference between Passover and Feast of unleavened bread?

Traditionally, unleavened bread made from barley was eaten during this week. Passover then, is on the fourteenth day from the commencement of the new year and is eaten after twilight on that day, which is then the start of the fifteenth day and the first High Sabbath of the week of Unleavened Bread.
