Is North Korea recognized by the US?

Relations between North Korea and the United States have been historically tense as both countries have no formal diplomatic recognition of one another. Since the armistice was signed, areas of contention have since revolved around North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, missile tests, and its human rights record.

The armed conflict in Korea, which began in 1950, lasted three years and claimed the lives of millions of Korean soldiers and civilians on both sides, hundreds of thousands of Chinese soldiers, and more than 36,000 U.S. soldiers.

Should America allow North Korea to be a nuclear state?

No nuclear state in the world has directly threatened one specific country’s security. And if America allows North Korea to be a nuclear state then I think many countries will follow suit. North Korea’s nuclear issue is not just about North Korea, this impacts the whole international non-proliferation objective.
