Is the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 the perfect bike?
Not only is the Interceptor 650 aggressively priced at Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom), but with the twins Royal Enfield has also ironed out a lot of issues plaguing older models. It is selling like hot cakes too. But it isn’t perfect, just not yet. Here are few areas where it excels and where it could have done better.
Is Royal Enfield parallel-twin worth buying?
Royal Enfield has worked hard to produce a parallel-twin worthy of its British roots. The 648cc parallel-twin with a 270-degree offset crank is one charming motor. It is super torquey with adequate low- and mid-range grunt. You can sustain speeds in the 120kmph area with no vibes affecting the riding experience.
How far can the Interceptor 650 go on a tankful?
I go strictly tankful-to-tankful now. The least the Interceptor 650 does is 220 kilometres on a tankful and the best it does is about 270 kilometres (this is in about 10.6 litres of fuel). I have fuelled up some eight to 10 times by now and I get a fuel economy in the range of 21.5 to 26.
Should Royal Enfield add a clock to the instrument cluster?
Dear Royal Enfield, please include a clock in the instrument cluster in the next iteration of this bike and let it be an independent, separate one that we don’t have to toggle different parameters to get to.
