Payment history accounts for 35\% of your FICO credit score, so the fewer negative marks you have—such as late payments or settled debts—the better.

Paying your credit card balance in full each month can help your credit scores. There is a common myth that carrying a balance on your credit card from month to month is good for your credit scores. That simply is not true.
