Is it bad to take AP Calc AB and BC?

Each course is challenging and demanding and requires a similar depth of understanding of common topics. AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC were designed to represent year-long college courses, so it is not recommended that you take both Calculus AB and Calculus BC courses within the same year.

Do colleges care about Calculus AB or BC?

While different colleges have their own requirements, the general rule of thumb is that the AB exam counts as one semester of college calculus, and the BC exam qualifies as two semesters. Students who anticipate having to take two or more core math classes may be better off in the BC class.

Is AP Calc AB or BC higher?

BC Calculus includes everything in AB Calculus, plus a few extra topics. You’ll actually get an AB Calculus sub-score when you take the BC exam. So Calculus BC is not necessarily more difficult than Calculus AB. BC Calculus has to move faster because it covers more material, which is what makes it more intense than AB.

Is a 4 on AP Calc BC bad?

It’s still a respectable score and you shouldn’t let this negatively impact future plans. Of course not! Keep in mind that a “3” is considered to be a passing grade, so you more than just passed!

Do colleges accept AP Calc AB?

Typically colleges and universities offer the equivalent of one semester of calculus if you score at least 4 (out of 5) on the AP Calculus AB exam, or two semesters if you score at least 4 on the AP Calculus BC exam. For example, some colleges and universities award credits even if you scored a 3.

Is Calculus BC calculus 2?

AB covers university-level Calculus I – the first semester of college calculus. BC covers university-level Calculus I and II – the first two semesters of college calculus. Both courses use curriculums approved by College Board. Both AB and BC earn the same honors grade points.

Is AB in AP Calc AB bad?

If you earned the B in AP Calculus AB, focus on improving your study skills for AP Calculus BC, if you opt to take this senior year. Focus on mastering the material of AB you didn’t master by reviewing it over the summer. Getting a B is never bad. It means you were able to get at least 80, which is a good score.
