Is it bad to fast for 5 days?

Fasting for 5 days is surprisingly not bad. Based on my experience with 1-day fasts, I assumed fasting for 5 days would equal the pain of a 1-day fast times 5. This was not the case. After a few days my body adjusted and feelings of hunger slowly evolved into a dull ache.

Autophagy is believed to begin when glucose and insulin levels drop considerably. Animal studies have shown evidence of autophagy after 24 hours of fasting, which starts peaking at around 48 hours of fasting.
