How many years does it take to become a DM?

An IAS who has served for at least 6 years including the 2 years of his/her training period, is eligible for becoming a D.M. Therefore, a candidate who is aspiring to become a D.M should be focussed on securing a substantial-top rank in the Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC as well as becoming an IAS.
