How many credits can you take per semester ASU?

Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor before registration. Students may enroll in a maximum number of 18 credit hours per fall or spring semester, with a maximum number of nine credits taken in session A or session B.

You’re allowed to enroll in up to 18 credits hours for spring and fall semesters and seven credits for each summer session. Online courses are accelerated with most being just 7.5 weeks long. So that max of 18 credit hours per semester can be split between two sessions; each semester’s session A and session B.

What is course overload?

Overloading is registering for more than 18 credits in a semester. Every additional credit beyond 18 credits will incur per-credit charges. Students who are not in good academic standing may not register for more than their prescribed curriculum (18 credits) in any given semester.
