How many amps is a 24v DC motor?

Motors are not usually ‘rated’ by current. 24V 200″ is about 8 Amps but as you say the current drawn depends on load but many many other factors are involved. The highest current the motor can draw is when it is stalled, You can work that out if you know the applied voltage and the resistance of the windings.

Can a 24v motor charge a 12v battery?

If you run a 12v motor from 24v its current drain and speed will still depend on the mechanical loading. However under no load it will now run at twice the speed at which it originally ran with 12v. Heating in the motor is still related to the current – so you can still run it at its full rated mechanical load/current.

How do you charge batteries on a 24 volt system?

This requires only one bank of a 12V charger to be attached to the positive terminal of the first battery, and the negative terminal of the second battery. In the second example, to charge a 24V system simply use each bank of the charger on each 12V battery terminal leads.

How do you determine the amperage of a DC motor?

How to Calculate DC Motor Amperage

  1. Look on the label of the DC motor. Write down the voltage and the wattage on a sheet of paper.
  2. Enter the wattage into a calculator. Press the “Divide” button and then enter the voltage you wrote down.
  3. Press the “Equal” button. The result displayed is the DC motor’s amperes.

What happens if you charge a 24 volt battery with a 12 volt charger?

No you can’t, If you want to charge 24V battery using 12V charger then you have to step up 12V into 24V or more. but in that case current will decrease automatically and battery take more time to get charged.

Can you use a 12v charger to charge a 24V battery?

You cannot use the 12V charger directly to charge a 24V battery. To do the task you will need a boost converter capable of generating output voltage greater than 24V. Boost converters step up the voltage, keeping the input and output power constant.

Can a 24 volt charger charge two 12 volt batteries?

Yes you can, especially if the two 12v batteries are identical. If they are not, you will need to be careful more regarding the state of charge. A 12v battery is actually 6 identical cells connected in series. Connecting two such batteries in series merely gives you 12 cells in series and a total voltage of 24v.
