How long does it take to collect data from MTurk?

How long does it take for results? Usually you will see your studies completed in less than 24 hours. Sometimes larger studies of over 500 participants with specific qualifiers will take a little bit longer, but usually 24 hours is very realistic.

How do I download data from MTurk?

On the Mechanical Turk Requester website at https://requester.mturk.com/ , choose the Manage tab and then choose Workers.

  1. On the Manage Workers page, choose Download CSV.
  2. On the Download Workers Results page, a dialog box appears when your CSV is ready.
  3. The Worker data downloads and opens in Microsoft Excel.

To display the batch progress, details, and results On the Mechanical Turk Requester website at https://requester.mturk.com/ , choose the Manage tab and you’ll see the Results section.

If your survey tool allows you to provide a completion code when complete you can then direct Workers to provide it in the MTurk task when they are done. You can then link the survey response to the Worker in your results.

How do you deal with “trap questions” in MTurk?

Third, experienced MTurk workers can identify such “trap” questions readily and still speed through the rest of the tasks. If you decide to use attention checks, you can then set up the Survey Flow in Qualtrics to send them to an alternate End of Survey. How to do so is covered in my post on Using Logic in Qualtrics.

What should I do with MTurk worker IDs after the survey?

Researchers should be sure to state that the collection of MTurk worker IDs will only be for debriefing purposes and after debriefing, MTurk worker IDs will be deleted and will at no time ever be linked to their survey data.

What is mtturk and how does it work?

MTurk allows researchers to have access to a large population of willing participants for research studies. Researchers can generate a HIT (Human Intelligence Task) that gives MTurk users a Title and description of the online task. It also states the amount of compensation users will receive and the amount of time it takes to complete.
