You’ll begin your career with 10 weeks of intensive specialized training at ME ‘A’ School in Charleston, SC, which provides an introduction into the ME rating force.

Coast Guard canine handlers are also a special breed. Candidates must be Maritime Enforcement Specialists of the highest caliber with an enlisted rank of at least a second-class petty officer.
