How long does a myki trip last?
Choose what zones you’ll be travelling in and how many days you need. You can buy a myki Pass for 7 days or anywhere between 28 and 365 days.

When you travel with myki on a tram you don’t always need to touch off at the end of your journey. That’s because you can now travel from one end of a tram route to the other on a Zone 1 fare. But for most of us, it means never having to touch off when you leave the tram and you still receive the lowest fare.

Forgot to touch off? If you don’t touch off on a V/Line commuter service you’ll be charged a default 2 hour peak fare between the zone of touch on and Zone 1. When the conductor checks your myki, they’ll set the default fare to the end of the line you’re travelling on. This may be a higher cost than your journey.

When you touch off, your fare is automatically deducted from your card balance. The card reader will display your fare, along with your remaining balance. If you forget to touch on or off, you may be charged a fixed fare at the end of your trip.
Do you have to touch in and out on trams?
When finishing a journey by tram you do not need to touch out at all. If you do you will be charged a maximum rail fare. If you are switching between train and tram your rail journey will be ended when touching in on the tram boarding validator on platform 1.
Can you transfer money from one myki to another?
No. Mobile myki is different to an existing myki card. You’ll need to buy and top up a new Mobile myki. To transfer any funds from your existing myki to Mobile myki you’ll need to deactivate the existing card.

Yes you can buy tickets at the station. There is a separate set of counters for advance reservation on railway stations. You get a reservation form from a inquiry window and fill it and stand in a queue with it.
