How is fault determined in induction motor?

Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) is being the most widely used method to identify faults in Induction Motors. MCSA focuses its effort in the spectral analysis of the stator current, by analysis of the resulting harmonics when the machine is working under failure state.

How do you calculate the power of a 3 phase induction motor?

Calculate three-phase motor power consumption by multiplying amps by volts by the square root of three (W = AV(sqrt 3). For example, if the motor is drawing 30 amps at 250 volts, you have 30 x 250 x sqrt 3 (about 1.73) = 12,975 watts).

What are the internal faults in three phase induction motor?

… Theinduction machine faults are classified as winding faults, unbalanced stator and rotor, broken rotor bars, Eccentricity and bearing faults. The failure due to stator winding breakdown is about 30~40\% of total induction Faults [3] .

Which fault occurs in motor?

Straight forward list of some common motor faults: Shaft – Imbalance, Misalignment, Wear. Rotor – Imbalance, Rotor Bar Faults, Loose Rotor, Eccentricity. Stator – Stator Looseness, Incorrect Air Gap, Winding Fault.

What are the reasons for failure of three phase induction motor?

Failures in Three-Phase Stator Windings

  • Winding single-phased (wye-connected)
  • Winding single-phased (delta-connected)
  • Winding shorted phase-to-phase.
  • Winding shorted turn-to-turn.
  • Winding with shorted coil.
  • Winding grounded at edge of slot.
  • Winding grounded in the slot.
  • Shorted connection.

How do you calculate 3 phase motor horsepower?

Use this formula to estimate motor horsepower. Horsepower(hp)= Voltage x Amperage x \% EFF x power factor x 1.73/746.

How do you check the motor if any fault occurs?

With a multimeter set to low ohms (usually 200), test between each winding terminal and the metal casing of the motor. If there is any reading on any of these then the motor is bad, do not use it. You may find that when it runs ungrounded that the casing becomes live at up to supply voltage.
