How does a Mova globe move?
The rotation of a Mova globe is driven by magnetism and a photoelectric mechanism powered by light. There are actually two spheres. The outer one is an acrylic shell, inside which a second sphere is suspended in liquid. This inner sphere is covered with a graphic design, such as land masses and water of the Earth.
Why is my Mova globe not rotating?
Ensure the desired base will not scratch the globe and is not made of iron, as that will interfere with the Earth’s magnetic field, and the globe will stop rotating. You will also want to make sure the stand is not magnetized in any way as this will also possibly cause the globe to stop turning.
What liquid is in a Mova globe?
The fluid isn’t water! It is a proprietary (super-secret) fluid carefully selected to enhance the motion and visual appeal of MOVA Globes. All the fluids we selected had to be optically clear and toxic-free, free from any coloration or elements that would disrupt the “magic” being presented.
Why are Mova globes so expensive?
The price reflects the high-quality materials used and the time it takes to create a MOVA Globe. Our globes are not mass-produced, meaning each globe is put together by hand. The globes also use first-of-its-kind patent technology to rotate.
What is inside a MOVA globe?
Each globe has a transparent outer shell made from carefully selected, high-quality acrylic. This external layer remains stationary while an internal one spins using advanced magnets for torque and solar cells to power the movement.
What is MOVA globe?
Rotating Globes. Our unique spinning globes combine power from ambient light and torque from the earth’s magnetic field to create soothing rotations. No batteries required and no sloppy cords to detract from your enjoyment. Elevate your décor or gift the unexpected.
Are MOVA globes good?
The MOVA globes are exceptional and spin automatically using perpetual motion magic that doesn’t require any power. This definitely falls on the geek side of the fence more than the tech side, but I’m OK with that. I love globes.

Who created Mova Globes?
physicist Bill French
MOVA Globes were dreamed up by physicist Bill French in the 1990s. He brought in a former colleague, now MOVA International CEO, Shaw Lin, and a company was formed to bring the solar-powered motion technology to life in a home décor product.
