How do you report illegal PG?

If the pg is run on small scale, the owner need not take license from municipal authority but he has to furnish the details of every pg to the local police station. If there is no license or the owner is not reporting to police you can file a complaint in the police station against the owner.

Where can I complain about PG in Bangalore?

When basic housing facilities such as the provision of water and electricity are not given by any PG owner, one can complain to the BBMP Health Department. In such cases the tenant can even drag the owner to the court, when he/she has the proof of paying the rent regularly.

Are PGs safe?

Most PGs accommodations lacked safety measures, basic facilities, and even proper hygiene. Sections 343 and 353 of this act mandate that PG accommodations procure trade licence from the BBMP. But, a majority of them in Bengaluru are not registered under the BBMP (less than 1,000 out of 15,000) as mandated by this law.

How do I give legal notice to my house owner?

There is no specific procedure to issue a legal notice. The notice can also be personally tendered to the opposite party, as long as the opposite party is willing to receive it and sign an acknowledgment of its receipt. There is no compulsion to send a legal notice only through a Registered A.D. or through a courier.

What happens if a legal notice is not received?

A legal notice is filed as per Section 80 of Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and is only filed in civil cases. Legal consequences of legal notice depend upon the fact that it is delivered. If the legal notice remains undelivered because the party refuses to accept it, then it goes against him treated as valid.
