How do you reassign a string in Python?

Python strings are immutable, you change them by making a copy. The text[1:] returns the string in text from position 1 to the end, positions count from 0 so ‘1’ is the second character.

How do you assign a string to another string variable?

Approach:

  1. Get the Strings and the index.
  2. Create a new String.
  3. Traverse the string till the specified index and copy this into the new String.
  4. Copy the String to be inserted into this new String.
  5. Copy the remaining characters of the first string into the new String.
  6. Return/Print the new String.

While Strings are immutable, you can re-assign a String variable. Immutable means that you cannot change a String itself not that you cannot reassign what the variable that was pointing to its value now is. eg.

Strings can be reversed using slicing. To reverse a string, we simply create a slice that starts with the length of the string, and ends at index 0. The slice statement means start at string length, end at position 0, move with the step -1 (or one step backward).
