How do you find the median of categorical data?

To find the median, first order your data. Then calculate the middle position based on n, the number of values in your data set. If n is an odd number, the median lies at the position (n + 1) / 2. If n is an even number, the median is the mean of the values at positions n / 2 and (n / 2) + 1.
