How do you Analyse a debate?

To analyze an author’s argument, take it one step at a time:

  1. Briefly note the main assertion (what does the writer want me to believe or do?)
  2. Make a note of the first reason the author makes to support his/her conclusion.
  3. Write down every other reason.
  4. Underline the most important reason.

You can describe the motion of an object by its position, speed, direction, and acceleration. An object is moving if its position relative to a fixed point is changing. Even things that appear to be at rest move.

The trick to debating is to remember that you are not trying to be right; you are trying to be convincing. Whatever motion you are given, you should reflect on what values come into play in the topic, and on how those values can be used to convince people that your motion is the correct one to adopt.
