How do students afford Stanford?
Stanford provides financial aid in the form of scholarships, which do not need to be repaid. Federal and state grants, outside scholarships, and student employment are additional sources of funding. We do not expect you to take out student loans to cover your college costs.
Does financial aid cover private colleges?
About 270 private colleges and universities use the PROFILE, which might seem like a lot, but more private schools don’t use the financial aid form. So FAFSA filers won’t be penalized by the federal financial aid methodology that determines how much money an individual family should be able to afford for college.
