What does intuitive mean in Myers Briggs?

The second letter of the MBTI test, Sensing (S) and Intuition (N) is how you process information. Someone who is strong in sensing lives in the now and enjoys facts. While being Intuitive means you try and find the deeper meaning in things.

Intuition (N) They process information through patterns and impressions. Intuitive people value inspiration and imagination. They gather knowledge by reading between the lines. Their abstract nature attracts them toward deep ideas and concepts.

What are sensing and intuition in Myers-Briggs?

They provide either an S (for sensing) or N (for intuition) in the 4-character abbreviations for each Myers-Briggs personality type. In other words, you are either an XSXX or an XNXX where each X is also one of two letters (which we won’t go into here). But what’s the difference between these two traits? What makes you a sensor versus an intuitive?

What is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)?

The Myers-Briggs type indicator, also known as MBTI (and will be referred to as such), was created by Carl Jung. It is a great tool with which we can understand our loved ones. Comprised of four sectors; extroversion or introversion; sensing vs intuition, thinking vs feeling, and judging vs perceiving, but we will focus on intuitive vs sensing.

If asked to describe a picture or a painting, a sensing person will talk about the shapes or the colors used whereas an intuitive person will perceive a theme, and speak about its deeper meaning.
