What makes emeralds so expensive?

Emerald is the most expensive beryl, due to certain reasons. As many gemstones out there, it has to adhere to certain expectations, with color and transparency being the most important factors when it comes to this gem. The deepest green emeralds are the one with the biggest value. Darker the color, higher the price.

How can you tell a real emerald stone?

Examine the gem under magnification, ideally through a 10x triple-lens jeweler’s loupe. Hold it so light strikes it at an oblique angle, in one narrow beam if possible. If you see tiny flaws or irregular patterns within the stone, it is likely a real gem — although not necessarily an emerald.

Do emeralds have resale value?

All very high value and rare gems fall into the precious category. The regular ones are ruby, emerald, sapphire, pearl, coral, and garnet. But, strictly speaking, gemstones shouldn’t be considered for investment simply because they don’t have any resale value.”

How can you tell if a emerald is lab created?

Synthetic ones have all the same chemical and visual properties of emeralds, and the only way to distinguish between them and natural emeralds without lab equipment is their inclusions. One guarantee of a natural emerald is if there are naturally included crystals of any type.
