How is sonification done?

Sonication refers to the process of applying sound energy to agitate particles or discontinuous fibers in a liquid. Ultrasonic frequencies (>20 kHz) are usually used, so the process is also known as ultrasonication. Sonication can be conducted using either an ultrasonic bath or an ultrasonic probe (sonicator).

Do galaxies make noise?

Typically, sound waves are mechanical waves. The space agency used instruments on several probes (like Voyager and HAWKEYE) to record these waves. Then they put them together into a recording of a sound for all of us to hear.

Sound travels in waves like light or heat does, but unlike them, sound travels by making molecules vibrate. On Earth, sound travels to your ears by vibrating air molecules. In deep space, the large empty areas between stars and planets, there are no molecules to vibrate. There is no sound there.

How do they get sounds from planets?
