Does Minoxidil improve hair quality?

While the exact mechanism of action for minoxidil (the active ingredient) isn’t actually clear, it’s believed to work by partially enlarging hair follicles and elongating the growth phase of hair. With more follicles in the growth phase, you’ll see more hair coverage on your scalp.

Does Minoxidil stimulate new hair growth?

Although the exact mechanism by which Minoxidil works is not fully understood, the treatment is a vasodilator, meaning it widens the blood vessels to deliver more oxygen-rich blood to the hair follicles. Minoxidil also helps increase the size of hair follicles, which promotes the growth of thicker, stronger hairs.

Is 6 months of minoxidil enough?

It is best to take treatment for 6 to 12 months to give it enough time to work. After 24 weeks of treatment, there was a 12\% increase in hair density for women on oral minoxidil and 7.2\% increase for women applying topical minoxidil.

How does minoxidil work to regrow hair?

Minoxidil appears to work by widening the hair follicle, causing a thicker strand of hair, and by prolonging the anagen stage of hair growth which results in longer and a higher number of hair strands. The exact physiological basis for these effects remains unknown, but it has been shown to be safe and effective when used properly.

How long does it take for minoxidil to grow hair?
