In general, the better the success of a debating team, the higher their intelligence. “The three debaters whose papers are enclosed are all high honor students, that is, having an average in their studies of over 90\%. All of our successful debaters have been taken from our students who have ranked high.

In general, the benefits of debate include: Gaining broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across several disciplines outside the learner’s normal academic subjects. Increasing learners’ confidence, poise, and self-esteem. Providing an engaging, active, learner-centered activity.

The skills learned in competitive speech and debate are invaluable life skills. It has been well-documented that speaking activities can increase critical thinking, student confidence, and improve research and writing skills.

Why should you join debate?

Participating in debate gives students an improved perspective on the world around them — you’ll learn about important issues in politics, public policy, and philosophy and gain a better appreciation for the diverse perspectives that make up the public sphere. Everyone has opinions.

As in the case of the ‘24’ in relation to how it can make me smarter, I believe that the complexities of plot lines and the quick paced action is an effort to make viewers concentrate less on the content of the show. To me, it is like comparing of worded music and no-worded music in passing some information.

Watching television just fills the mind with irrelevant things that could otherwise be avoided by engaging the brain with relevant things such as reading appropriate literature. As a matter of fact, relying on the TV to improve your mind can only make one lazier, dumper and confused.

Does watching a lot of TV increase your thinking capacity?

There is no way that by watching the numerous confusions presented in most highly rated TV shows you will increase your thinking capacity. If anything, what watching a lot of TV can do to you is implanting the confusions into your mind.
