Cyber Security experts, on the other hand, don’t have to hack into the system. Their job is to protect the system by taking all possible protective measures. In the simplest of terms, Ethical Hackers make use of offensive security measures, and Cyber Security experts use defensive security measures.

What should I study for cyber security?

In general, a Cyber Security engineer must have the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Two years of work experience in Cyber Security related duties such as incident detection and response, and forensics.

Can anyone get started in cybersecurity?

Many of the best security professionals bring non-technical backgrounds from english, pre-Med, or psychology majors to auto-mechanics, artists, and stay-at-home moms. Just like the famous saying, “ Anyone can cook” from the Pixar movie, Ratatouille, so too can anyone get started in cybersecurity.
