Do UK universities accept gaokao?

Gao kao scores of 80 per cent will be accepted on a selection of courses at Queen Mary London, including physics, maths and engineering. Students should achieve an overall score of 75 per cent. Gao kao pass with an overall average 65 per cent or higher is needed.

What is gaokao equivalent to?

Students generally work towards the Gaokao in their final year of high school. It is therefore considered similar in size to 4 AS qualifications (4 x 180 = 720 hours).

How does the gaokao work?

The gaokao (高考) is an examination that is taken by Chinese students in their third and final year of high school typically from June 7 to June 8 or 9. If they choose science, they’ll take physics, chemistry and biology tests.

What score do you need to pass the gaokao?

The total score is 480 points. “3” refers to three compulsory subjects “Chinese, mathematics and a foreign language”, which are recorded in the total score.

Does Cambridge accept Gaokao?

The Gaokao is regarded as suitable preparation for Cambridge. Applicants studying for the Gaokao are encouraged to undertake additional study outside of their school qualifications. This might include, for example, relevant science Olympiads or College Board SAT I or II; or Advanced Placement Tests.

In terms of overall demand and volume of study, the Gaokao was found to be at least as rigorous as A level. Examination style and question demand compared more favourably in mathematics and biology than in English and history.

Any students who cheat or are involved in identity theft in the national college entrance exam, or gaokao, will be disqualified from enrolling in universities and colleges, the Ministry of Education said. A record 10.71 million students have signed up to participate in this year’s gaokao, up by 400,000 from last year.

Twin brothers living in Southwest China both got very high scores in gaokao, China’s national college entrance exams; one of them even aced the math exam. The twin brothers, Zhang Jiajie and Zhang Jiahao, got 718 and 705 out of a full score of 750, Cover News reported on Saturday.
