Do international students need an OUAC?
To apply for an undergraduate program in Ontario, you’ll need to use the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre, or OUAC: specifically, the 105 stream for international students. The first step, of course, is research, research, research! When you’re ready, head over to OUAC to start applying.
How does the OUAC application work?
The OUAC is a centralized processing centre for applications for undergraduate admission to the universities of Ontario. The OUAC, which is located in Guelph, Ontario, receives your application, processes it and transfers the information to the universities you have selected. The OUAC does not make admission decisions.

The OUAC compiles application statistics for Undergraduate, Teacher Education, Medical School, Law School and Rehabilitation Sciences.
What happens after you submit OUAC?
You will receive a confirmation number when you successfully submit your application changes and/or respond to an offer of admission. Expect to receive either an offer of admission or a refusal from the universities you applied to by the end of May.
Can you apply to McGill through OUAC?
Applicants completing an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in Canada and are registered with the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) should include their OUAC number in their application to McGill. This way we are able to retrieve your transcripts electronically.
Does OUAC require essay?
For most institutions in Canada, they don’t require entrance essays for admissions, as it is usually mainly based on grades. Some institutions will accept applications directly.
What is the school number for OUAC?
Normally, the OUAC Reference Number contains 10 digits, beginning with the current year (4 digits) followed by 6 digits (e.g., 20XX999999). If a university asks for your 11-digit OUAC Reference Number, add a 0 (zero) at the end of your 10-digit number (e.g., 20XX9999990).

Can I apply OUAC twice?
Yes, you can change your program choices by logging in to your application and going to “Choices/Offers”, as long as the deadline has not passed. To withdraw a program, select “Withdraw” in the Actions column beside the program. To add another program, select “Add Program”.
Can you get money back from OUAC?
All fees are non-refundable. The OUAC will not forward your application to any universities until you submit full payment to the OUAC. We will not refund fees for withdrawn university choices.
