Do guitar players also play bass?

guitar players tend to play bass like a guitar and don’t always get it’s actual role in a song. more to bass playing than pumping out root notes to the chords (but that can work to a degree). That really comes down to the style of music. In power metal, that pretty much sums up what the bass does.
