Do fuel injected engines have throttle bodies?

Where is the throttle body located? On a fuel-injected engine the throttle body is normally located between the air filter and the intake manifold, and is connected to the gas pedal mechanically with a cable, or electronically by wire.

Is fuel injector same as throttle body?

The injectors deliver fuel into the air above the throttle plates. From there, the air-fuel mixture enters the intake manifold, where it is distributed to the engine’s individual cylinders. The throttle body portion of the assembly contains the throttle plates, idle air control valve, and throttle position sensor.

How does a fuel injected engine work?

A modern fuel injection system works by atomising the fuel at high pressure, mixing it with clean air as it passes the inlet manifold, before entering the combustion chamber of each cylinder. The key element of the electronic modern fuel injection system is the word “electronic.”

Does a fuel injected engine have a carburetor?

Fuel injected engines do not need carb heat, but they do need electric fuel pumps as a starting flow, as well as a backup for the engine-driven fuel pump.

Do all engines have a throttle body?

At any point, there’s always a throttle body, unless it’s at electric car. It can even be variable throttle body, but there always has to be some throttle body mechanism that allows air into the engine to do power.

What are the 2 types of throttle body?

Petrol Throttle Body (TBO) Types:

  • Audi/VW EDR-L (Pierburg) cable driven with ECU controlled idle.
  • Early Toyota ETCS-i link type throttle control system.
  • Common Linkless Type Electronic Throttle Body Systems.
  • Diesel EDR-Di Electromotive regulating throttle type system.

How does a throttle body injection work?

With Throttle Body Injection (TBI), one or two injectors mounted in the throttle body spray fuel into the intake manifold. Fuel is sprayed into the engine when the engine computer energizes the injector(s), which occurs in a rapid series of short bursts rather than a continuous stream.

How does the ECM control the fuel injection?

Fundamentally, the engine ECU controls the injection of the fuel and, in petrol engines, the timing of the spark to ignite it. It determines the position of the engine’s internals using a Crankshaft Position Sensor so that the injectors and ignition system are activated at precisely the correct time.

What connects to the throttle body?

The throttle body is located between the air cleaner and the intake manifold of the engine. The throttle body is connected to the gas pedal of your vehicle with a linkage or flexible cable, which moves the throttle shaft when the gas pedal is depressed.

What is the difference between carb type engine and a fuel injected engine?

Unlike carburetors, a Fuel Injection system is comprised of a complex set of electronics and sensors. In carbureted systems the fuel gets drawn from the tank, while in a Fuel Injected system it depends on a fuel pump installed inside the tank for a fine-grained control over fuel flow.
