Did the Mountain die and come back to life?

The fact that he is able to reanimate the Mountain is a continous theme within the books. It is reanimating the dead. The Wights, Catelyn, Beric, it is all resurrecting the dead. The same goes for Qyburn reanimating the Mountain.

Oberyn wounds Gregor with a poisoned spear, but the Mountain is ultimately victorious, admitting to murdering Elia and Aegon before crushing Oberyn’s skull. Gregor succumbs to the poison and his body is given to Qyburn for experimentation.

Did the Mountain die at the end?

The Brutality of Gregor Clegane With his mind dulled and his body necrotically invincible, Gregor served as a faithful Queensguard to Cersei Lannister. Gregor was later killed by and alongside Sandor when they dueled during the Battle of King’s Landing, but not before killing Qyburn.

Does the Mountain get resurrected in the books?

In the books Gregor was slain by Oberyn Martell’s poison, and due to his outburst during the duel, Tywin agreed to ship his head to Dorne. Instead of a head, they send a very large skull. The Martells speculate that it might not be Gregor’s. Meanwhile Gregor’s remains were left in the care of Qyburn.
