Did smaug know about the One Ring?
Smaug would have known nothing about Sauron’s Ruling Ring. Because if Smaug knew, the same information would have inevitably been discovered by Sauron’s vast network of spies throughout Middle-earth. And fortunately it wasn’t. Smaug would also have been ignorant of the existence of Sauron.

Radagast the Brown, also known as Aiwendil, was one of the Wizards sent to Middle-earth to contest the will of Sauron. Originally a Maia of Yavanna, he had a strong affinity for animals. He dwelt, for a time, at Rhosgobel on the western eaves of Mirkwood, near the Gladden Fields on the Great River.

In the movie a parallel is drawn between the eye of Sauron and the eye of Smaug, the two images being juxtaposed. In fact, it is the gaze of Smaug’s eye that pressures Bilbo and leads him to take off the ring, with the result that Smaug can see him.
Could Smaug have been neutral if he lived?

Could Sauron have had the power to command the Balrog?
So, War of The ring, Sauron would of only had the power to seduce Smaug with promises of greater fortune and power. He wouldn’t of been able to physically or mentally command him. To command the Balrog would have been even harder since it was a Maiar of the same level as Sauron.
