That is how they plotted out Yoda and Luke’s final scene, that it wasn’t about killing Vader, but that he had to be prepared that, when defending himself, it might happen.

What was Obi-Wan and Yoda’s plan?

Their plan for Luke was to defeat Vader and the Emperor. For that they wanted to train him in the ways of the Force, and that is what they attempted to do. If you watch Episode IV again, you will see that Obi-Wan insists that Luke must accompany him, and very early on he says “you must learn the ways of the Force”.

Why did Yoda lose to the emperor?

So Yoda had to defeat Palpatine in a short amount of time. So, why did Yoda fail to defeat Sidious? Put simply, he wasn’t powerful enough. It wasn;t some blunder on Yoda’s part, or some brilliant move by Sidious.

Why did Yoda not train Luke?

Yoda lists several specific reasons why he’s reluctant to train Luke. He’s impatient, angry, reckless, and constantly looking to the future at the expense of the present. In short: He felt Luke wasn’t ready.

Why did Leia quit Jedi training?

Soon after, Organa discontinued her training after she told Skywalker that she had sensed the death of her son at the end of her Jedi path. While Luke hoped that his sister would resume her training later on, Organa gave him her lightsaber to convince him otherwise, asking to pass it on to a promising student someday.

Did Yoda want to train Leia?

Some of the (many) great moments in Empire come when Luke Skywalker is training with Yoda on Dagobah, but of course, the film makes it clear that Yoda was initially hesitant to train Luke. But it turns out that he was originally far more interested in training another: Luke’s twin sister, Leia Organa.
