Did neo ever escape the Matrix?

Neo appeared in previous iterations of the simulation and was able to escape it. The Matrix learned with every iteration and each improved upon the previous. Since the Matrix could not eliminate the appearance of Neo in the simulations it decided to take advantage of him.
