Did Ned Stark support Stannis?

It was precisely because Ned knew who Jon was that Ned supported Stannis and did not reveal Jon’s true identity. Did Stannis respect Jon Snow?

In the show, Stannis definitely respects Jon; he saw that Jon had enough honour to keep his vows, and that he had no tolerance for those who defied his commands as Lord Commander (Stannis even gave Jon a nod of approval when he executed Janos Slynt).

Was Ned Stark a friend of Stannis Baratheon?

What would have happened if Ned Stark had lived?

While Melisandre wanted to sacrifice “king’s blood” to change Stannis’ fortunes, Davos reminded him that a true king protects his people.

Why did Stannis Baratheon send the Raven to the Night’s Watch?

FYI, the Night’s Watch send the raven to all kings for help and Stannis is the one who do the favor. Why – He just had an army, in fact, small army since his main troops were annihilated by Tyrion and Tywin in Battle of the Blackwater.
