Fast forward to the future: Inside the time capsule are letters written to their future selves when they were younger. They all decide to read Kakeru’s letter, who passed away. As they read the letter, they get the suspicion that Kakeru’s death might not have been an accident.
Does kakeru have depression?
He enjoys video games. Though he puts up a happy front around his friends and family, he hides his true feelings often and is incredibly depressed over his mother’s death/suicide, in which he blames himself for it happening.
How did Naho get the letter?
At the beginning of the story, Naho receives a letter written by herself ten years into the future. When she gets to school, she opens the letter and reads it. The letter tells Naho about events that will occur in the story.
Did everyone get a letter in orange?
In the next episodes, Naho is confused by the way Kakeru always holds his hand out to her. Suwa suggests asking the others, and during the ‘group meeting’ Naho tells them about the letter. To which they all reveal their own! So once it’s revealed that everyone has a letter, they finally team up to help Kakeru.

At first it seemed like they didn’t change anything; Kakeru still died. However, when they all rushed to his side, he was still alive! He really did want to die at first, however he remembered them, his friends. He also told his friends that he was glad to be alive, and thanked them for saving him.
Is Naho able to save Kakeru?
Ultimately in the main timeline, Naho and Kakeru do end up together, getting married with a son. Yes, they’re two timelines in which Kakeru TRIES to commit suicide.
Is Orange anime happy ending?
From the hurt and pain future Kakeru experienced which lead to his suicide to the strained relationship of present Naho and Kakeru, all these things were wonderfully resolved. I’m incredibly happy that it ended on a happy and sweet note. So, let’s recap!
Why did kakeru commit suicide?
Due to a mental breakdown, his mother committed suicide. Blaming himself for his mother’s suicide, Kakeru falls into deep depression for a while, and eventually commits suicide while making everyone think it was an accident. In the current future, he and Naho start dating, and his friends prevent his suicide.
