Diesel is more dense than petrol. you can simply check by putting finger in it. petrol will evaporate more quickly but diesel will hardly evaporate while on your finger. Color of container is also a way to differentiate petrol and diesel.

Diesel has a bitter taste and almost exclusively unique diesel taste without the alcohol taste.

Another prominent reason behind the excessive noise in diesel engines is the fact that diesel engines do not use spark ignition.

Does petrol taste good?

Its pretty poisenous stuff and if you smoke you ill blow your head off!! Better to not do it!! The flavor is a little like that of slightly spicy steamed carrots. Note I know the flavor because of accidentally drawing some into my mouth, nobody should taste or even handle gasoline with bare hands.

Can you smell petrol?

In some cases, the vent hose connected to your fuel tank will leak, which will cause gas vapor to leak out of your fuel system. Gas leaks can be very dangerous, as gas puddles under your car can easily catch on fire.
