Can you take PSAT and SAT?

The SAT Suite of Assessments is made up of the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9. Typically, 11th and 12th graders take the SAT, 10th or 11th graders take the PSAT/NMSQT, 10th graders take the PSAT 10, while 8th and 9th graders take the PSAT 8/9.

Do you have to take the PSAT in order to take the SAT?

Whether you score well or not, it is recommended that every student take the PSAT at least a year before having to take the SAT. The only time the PSAT is administered is in the fall, typically mid-October, so you don’t want to miss the deadline.

Can I take the SAT before the PSAT?

When and how often should students take the SAT? Sophomores should take at least one SAT and use the summer before the junior year to prepare for the PSAT. Juniors should take the October SAT right before the PSAT/NMSQT which will qualify them for the National Merit Scholarship competition.

Is the SAT harder then the PSAT?

The PSAT test is slightly easier than the SAT test. The PSAT test is meant to serve as practice for the SAT test. When you break down how much time you have per question for each section of the tests, you’ll notice that you have a little more time to answer math questions on the PSAT test than you do on the SAT test.

When should I take the SAT?

The College Board recommends that all juniors take the PSAT and most juniors will take the SAT by the following June (unless they take the ACT or wait for October senior year). Sophomores can still take the SAT, though (anyone can, even a 6th grader).

Can I take my Child’s PSAT at another school?

Most schools offer the PSAT and students can typically sign up through their college counselor. However, if your child is homeschooled or if your child’s school does not offer the PSAT, your child can register to take the test at another school.
