Can you run multiple Linux distros?

Yes. You can ‘dual-boot’ various Linux distro’s installed to the hard drive. It is quite easy actually. Often I will have more than 5 or 6 Linux distro’s installed on the same hard drive on my “testing” box.

Can all Linux distros run the same software?

Any Linux based program can work on all Linux distributions. Generally all that is needed is for the source code to be compiled under that distribution and packaged according to that distributions package manager.
