Can you mix alkaline and rechargeable batteries?

“Different batteries are designed for different purposes. Mixing a lithium battery with an alkaline battery will not improve device performance. In fact, it will reduce performance and may even damage your device or cause battery leakage or rupture. As well, do not mix different battery brands within a device.

In short, a lithium battery can be used as a high-performing alternative to a standard alkaline battery. However, the benefits come at a cost: Lithium is a more expensive technology, which means a higher price point. Also, lithium batteries are restricted as carry-on travel items by some airlines.

What are the differences between Panasonic Eneloop AAA and alkaline batteries?

Note that while Panasonic eneloop AAA batteries have a lower voltage, they are capable of maintaining a steady discharge rate at around 1.0V throughout its use. Alkaline batteries may have a higher initial voltage of 1.5V, but they’ll gradually lose their voltage throughout their use, reducing the device’s performance over time.

Can I charge an alkaline battery with a Ni-MH Charger?

Panasonic strongly advocates not attempting to charge primary batteries such as alkaline, zinc carbon, or lithium, using Ni-MH chargers. Alkaline batteries are not designed for recharging, and doing so could cause leakage and in the worst case lead to the batteries exploding.
