Sheltering Runaway Minors Under Florida Statute §985.731, it is a first-degree misdemeanor offense to shelter a child who ran away from home for more than 24 hours. A person who is convicted of the offense could be sentenced to incarceration in jail for up to a year and a fine of up to $2,500.
