So, can you become a teacher without a degree in education? Yes. Good news – you don’t have to go back to school and get another bachelor’s degree in education to teach thanks to alternative teacher certification programs.

All teachers in Thailand must have a BA degree and a teaching license. 2. Those without a teaching license are required to take a 20-hour Thai culture course, a one year teaching training course, and the teacher must pass four exams.

As for teaching without a university degree, although the Thai Ministry of Education (MOE) says the basic qualifications for an English teacher in Thailand are a university degree and a TEFL certificate, it is still possible to teach and to teach legally without a degree.

I personally graduated from an accredited four-year university and would not feel comfortable cutting corners by utilizing a degree mill if that wasn’t the case. A TEFL certification is not an actual legal requirement to teach in Thailand, but many schools treat it as a qualifier.
