Can you do a bend on an acoustic guitar?

Bending strings on a steel stringed acoustic guitar can be done to good effect. It works on a nylon stringed too, but is less common. You can try a lighter string gauge to make it easier. Especially steel stringed guitars are usually stringed with pretty brutal gauges.

How do you adjust the neck angle on an acoustic guitar?

Ideally the neck should be mounted onto the guitar body with a very slight angle; with no tension in the strings and the guitar laying on its back, the neck should be angled slightly downward so that the top of the fretboard is on the same plane as the guitar body.

“Overset” necks are where the neck angle rises above the bridge of a guitar. Clearly, the neck shifted down below the bridge (called underset) thus high string action. When the neck shifts upwards (called overset) the neck angle is above the bridge and we hear fret/string buzz.

How do you adjust a guitar neck without a rod?

In cases where there is no rod, as on most classicals, or in cases where the rod is not sufficient to bring the neck into proper adjustment, there are two ways to change the neck curvature. One is to remove the frets and plane the fretboard, and the other is to use heat and clamps to try and bring the neck into the right shape.

Take the guitar to a reputable music store and they can help you find someone qualified to repair it. I doubt just tightening the neck bolt will help but it certainly could hurt at this point.. Classical guitars usually have no truss rod – if yours does, a guitar tech can adjust it for you.

How do you bend a note with your fingers?

The Lesson Always use two or more fingers (usually your second and third fingers). Try to use your wrist to make the bend and use your fingers as levers. When practicing always hold the bent note to check that it is properly in tune (the most important aspect of bending practice).
